Want to discover how the best-dressed homes will be decked out this season? Everything you need to know is at the Ideal Home Show Scotland.
The design extravaganza is back, bigger and better than before, kicking off this Friday and running until Sunday, October 21, at the SECC, Glasgow.
Whether you’re looking for a new kitchen or bathroom or just want hints and tips on how to revamp your living room or bedroom, the Ideal Home Show is jam-packed with all sorts of home and interior design ideas.
It’s a great day out for all the family with more than 250 exhibitors selling everything from entertainment systems and treehouses to designer furniture and ingenious DIY tools, all at great discounted prices.
As ever, a big part of the event is the Ideal Theatre where workshops and talks will take place every day. Experts will give tips on everything from composting to cooking with the kids, flower arranging to Christmas decor.
There will also be make-up sessions, wine tasting and healthy eating advice from Scottish Slimmers.
The star of the show this year is Ann Maurice, presenter of Five’s House Doctor, who will be dropping in on Friday and and Saturday to chat about home staging.
Her team will also be on hand for the entire show to give tips on how to revamp your home, so bring along snapshots of any dodgy decor you want the House Doctor to cure.
Other celebrity guests include Right at Home’s John Amabile and Beechgrove Garden expert Lynn Harris. Interior designer John, fresh from his latest stint on ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover, will be at the show from October 17-19.
With the help of 60 Minute Makeover’s handymen Jason Godwin and John Higgins, he’ll be designing different roomsets and revealing his makeover secrets.
He’ll also be joined by surprise special guests.
John said: “This season there’s a greater emphasis on colours and patterns in interior design.
“Gone is the era of neutral tones – stripes, checks and floral prints are bleeding personality back into homes.
“I’ll be using products from Harlequin, Au Naturale and Litecraft to demonstrate how to work with fabrics, accessorise and create clever lighting effects. For sneaky tips on how to touch up the kitchen without it costing the earth, I’ll be bringing in the expertise of Reface Scotland.”
Green-fingered Lynn will be revealing how we can all be healthier from our choice of garden plants at the show’s special environment day on October 16.
And if it’s help in the kitchen you’re after, check out chef John Quigley’s presentations on October 12, 19 and 21 to pick up top ideas for Christmas entertaining.
Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus will also be dropping in to reveal how her kitchen plays an important part in her new healthy eating regime.
And there’s fun for all ages with a special version of Family Fortunes with top prizes to be won each weekday hosted by Real Radio’s breakfast show stars Robin Galloway and Cat Harvey.
Show manager Kate Thomas said: “The Ideal Home Show Scotland is the perfect one-stop destination for gathering stacks of interior design ideas and getting in some pre-Christmas shopping.
“Each year we change the content to keep the show fresh and attract new exhibitors and visitors.
“There is something for everyone at this year’s show – it’ll be a great day out with plenty of attractions to entertain husbands, teenagers and younger children.”
